We're a community of students committed to impacting our campus by living life passionately, engaging in uplifting spiritual conversations, and inspiring others with authenticity to follow the way of Jesus

Your college years will be some of the most exciting and critical times of your life. We believe that God created you to experience a great sense of meaning, purpose, and intimacy with Him. We believe that every person is able to experience all these things when they encounter the person of Jesus Christ in their life.

We are a community of college students who pursue authentic relationships, intentional spiritual growth, and leading service for the purpose of glorifying God with everything we do. We desire to see every person on campus live a life full of hope and pure joy.

Our greatest joy is to connect with students, mentor and support them on their journeys of self-discovery, and challenge them toward a deeper faith in God.

We are the campus ministry of the United Methodist Church on campus at the University of Louisville.

Join our tribe for a free meal, encouraging Bible study, and engaging spiritual conversations

If you would like to learn more about The Gathering, send us an email at info@gatheringlouisville.org and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.  We'd love the opportunity to talk and get to know your story!

  • God is one being displayed in three – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus was the Son of God, meaning that he was fully man and fully God.

  • Every person has great value and worth in the eyes of God. God created you to carry his image. Therefore, God loves you, no matter what you’ve gone through, your political views, socioeconomic, or your personal challenges (Psalm 139:1-18).

  • Sin causes us to die spiritually and be enemies of God. Sin makes us slaves to self and incapable to live lives that honor God (Ephesians 2:1-3). Sin will separate us eternally from God’s presence unless we are cleansed by the perfect sacrifice: Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:10).

  • Jesus died and rose again. God sent Jesus, the only perfect human, to die on the cross on our behalf. Jesus sacrifice on the cross made a way so that we would experience true freedom, joy, and deep relationships with Him and one another.

  • Salvation only exists through trust in Christ. God’s love for us is not based on our personal performance, our accolades, or good works. We have access to God ONLY because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-9)

  • We are saved by the grace of God alone. It is impossible for us to earn salvation. We are saved ONLY because of the free and unmerited favor that God gave to us.

  • Scripture is the ultimate authoritative revelation of God. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

  • God faith and reason are channels God uses to know him. We believe in “faith seeking understanding.” God is the greatest artist and scientist. He created beauty and every system that holds and sustains the universe to create in us a sense of awe and wonder. God can be known and found as we search for him in his Word, the Bible. (Isaiah 40:26)

Do I have to agree with The Gathering to be a part of it? No, we just want to meet you where you are. We stay true to our beliefs and stand by them, but we cannot and will not force you to believe what we believe.

Marco Ballesteros

Director, Pastor

While Louisville is my home, when you meet me, you will know right away that I am not from Kentucky.  It’s probably the accent that quickly gives away the fact that I was born and raised in Mexico City.  I am also not your typical Mexican.  I am not fan of spicy food, don’t play soccer, and you probably will never see me dance.  You will see me playing music, enjoying a good cup of coffee with both new and old friends, and having deep conversations about God’s love for each of us.  I believe life is an adventure where God has called us to live courageous and selfless lives.  He desires that life for us, regardless of what we have done or how the world views us.  I hope we get a chance to talk about Him and your gifts, talents, and call to leadership.  I also look forward to introducing you to my amazing wife Jessica and our three incredible children, Gaby, Ana Grace, and Samuel.
